For one, and this could have been hit harder in my piece, I think — I am a staunch anti-capitalist. I do not believe that in light of the political and economic climate in the US at the moment that it is ethical to invest large sums into private companies. There are federal grants and public-private partnerships (not great, but a start) where research is transparent and there is oversight and reporting on that science. Most of the longevity companies and the research they do in the private sector are essentially stealing money and hoarding research.
